Under the assumption that a gaggle of children outside of his home had destroyed his Donald Trump yard sign, a 56-year-old man grabbed his gun.
Michael Kubek, of the middle-class Detroit suburb Allen Park, told police that he heard a bunch of children outside of his house and noticed that his Trump campaign yard sign was destroyed, according to the News-Herald.
In an effort to scare the children, Kubek reportedly told police, he grabbed his gun and chased the six children to a nearby park where he cursed at them and held them at gunpoint.
According to the News-Herald, Kubek told police that he was angry at seeing the destroyed sign because his home has been egged and other signs also destroyed in recent days.
He admitted that he did not see who had destroyed his Trump sign and could not identify any of the children as the culprit.
The children denied any wrongdoing in the incident. They told police that they were on their way to a park to celebrate a birthday when they were accosted by Kubek.
The children ranged in age between 12 and 14 years old, WXYZ-TV reported.
Kubek reportedly told police that his gun was not loaded when he pointed it at the children. Police confiscated the gun, which was still in its holster and not loaded, and Kubek's concealed pistol license.
Kubek was arrested for felonious assault and charged with seven felonies, the News-Herald reported. He will be back in court in December.
