Megyn Kelly on Clinton: ‘Voters don’t want someone who’s in trouble with the law’

Fox News host megyn Kelly quizzed Democratic strategist Richard Socarides Thursday over whether or not those who will vote for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton are “genuinely enthused” about her candidacy.

Kelly noted that, much as Republican Donald Trump’s poll numbers began to collapse in the wake of the publication of a tape in which he describes grabbing women without their consent, Clinton’s numbers started to drop following the revelation that the FBI had re-opened its investigation into her use of a private email server to conduct government business as secretary of state.

Kelly asked Socarides if Clinton’s voters were merely “holding their nose” while they cast a vote for her. He argued that they are enthusiastic about her candidacy and she will win the election by “two to three” percentage points.

Kelly countered that voters “don’t want someone who’s in trouble with the law.”

Socarides replied that the FBI has politicized its investigation.

“They’re trying to investigate potential crimes,” Kelly replied. “That’s what they do!”
