Conservative radio host Mark Levin is no fan of the liberal media or their attempts to smear Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions.
President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that he would be nominating Sessions to succeed Loretta Lynch as attorney general. Not long after the news broke Friday morning, the mainstream media began to label Sessions as a racist and as someone who would not apply the law equally to all Americans.
The allegations launched at Sessions centers around comments he allegedly made in the 1980's, which lead to his federal judgeship nomination to be blocked in 1986.
But according to Levin, the liberal media is simply trying to "assassinate" Sessions' character.
"Now I want you to listen to me. [Sessions] is a thoroughly decent human being," Levin said. "He does not have a racist bone in his body. He is a soft-spoken man. He is an extremely intelligent man. He would make an outstanding attorney general of the United States — unlike Loretta Lynch, unlike Eric Holder."
"He's an extremely ethical man. Now what's being done to him is what they tried to do to him before when the president I worked for, Ronald Raegan, nominated him in 1986 to be on the appellate court," Levin continued. "It's what they tried to do to [Supreme Court Justice] Clarence Thomas. It's what they've tried to do to a score of solid conservative men and women. And we must stand up to this!"
"We CANNOT allow every single person we put forward for a prominent position to have their character assassinated. We CANNOT tolerate this any longer!" the conservative radio host added.
The media, Levin went on to explain, are "lousy people."
"These are lousy people. Mark Hemingway, a great writer over at the Weekly Standard: 'Now that Jeff Sessions is Donald Trump's pick for attorney general, you're going to hear a lot of people dig up old accusations that he's a racist. In fact, CNN did so last night,'" Levin said. "SCREW YOU CNN!"
"Screw you! We know who you are with WikiLeaks — how dare you trash a man like this?! How dare you participate in this," Levin continued. "And we have to sit here and listen to this crap? The party of slavery, the party of segregation, the party of Jim Crow lecturing us?! Now the party of the Muslim Brotherhood, the party of CAIR, the party of Louis Farrakhan — oh my goodness."
Levin added that he "greatly encouraged" by the team Trump is building.
