I feel great': Ten years after Iraqi Sniper shot him in the face, this navy vet can smile again

Ten years after he was shot by an Iraqi sniper, US Navy veteran Dusty Kirby is smiling again this Christmas season, according to Fox News.

According to Fox, Kirby was hit by enemy sniper fire while serving in Iraq in 2006. He was shot in the face and his jaw was shattered.

Kirby spent much of the next ten years battling chronic pain.

“It started out as a nuisance, and it grew to debilitating levels sometimes,” Kirby said on “Fox and Friends” Monday. “It would, it laid me down for two or three days [at a time] even.”

This year, with the help of the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, Kirby underwent two reconstructive surgeries. He said his pain is gone — and he can smile again.

“I’m not hurting,” he said. “I can eat and I can smile. I can talk, I can do all kinds of stuff. I feel great.”
