Trump claims that he doesn’t like tweeting

President-elect Donald Trump told the world this week that he doesn’t actually like using Twitter.

“I don’t like tweeting,” Trump said during an interview on that aired on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" Wednesday. “I have other things I could be doing.”

Trump said he tweets because “I get very dishonest media, very dishonest press,” adding: “And it’s my only way that I can counteract when people make misstatements about me, I’m able to say it and call it out.”

He said that if he felt the media was more honest, he would use the social media platform less frequently: “If the press were honest — which it’s not — I would absolutely not use Twitter. I would not have to.”

Trump has infamously used his Twitter account to air his grievances with his rivals, his critics and members of the media. In recent days, Trump has used his Twitter account to criticize actress Meryl Streep and civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.).

A recent poll found that a majority of Americans believe Trump tweets too much.
