Trump slams Rachel Maddow’s tax leakers: ‘They’re bad people. There’s something wrong with them’

During his latest episode of “Watters’ World,” Fox News Channel host Jesse Watters aired a new one-on-one interview with President Donald Trump, during which Trump severely criticized the people responsible for leaking his tax return to MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.

Maddow was attacked by supporters on the left and mocked by many conservatives and Republicans after her highly publicized revelation of Trump’s 2005 tax return failed to show anything even remotely damaging to the president.

According to Maddow’s leaked Trump tax return, Trump paid $38 million in taxes in 2005 and earned about $150 million for the year.

In his interview with Watters, Trump was asked about his leaked tax returns, and he wasted no time denouncing the leaks.

“They’re bad people,” Trump told Watters. “There is something wrong with them. They leaked them. It’s illegal to do what they did, I think. I always heard that a tax return is a very sacred kind of a thing. You don’t leak them, you’re not allowed to. It’s criminally offensive.”

Watters asked Trump if he plans to “go after these leakers hard,” and the president responded, “We’re thinking about it. We’re looking at it.”

Trump also said during the interview the leakers “don’t respect the law” and that “it’s terrible what’s going on in Washington.”

Trump discussed numerous policy issues with Watters during the interview, including taxes, which Trump promised to cut, and the ongoing battle in Congress to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. When asked whether Obamacare would be replaced, Trump said he believes a deal will be struck.

“Yes, we’re going to get something done and it’s going to be terrific and so much better than Obamacare,” Trump said. “If you allow [the ACA] to exist for another year, it’s going to implode.”
