Going to the doctor can be stressful for pets, but a veterinarian at Fox Hollow Animal Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado, is going the extra mile to make sure the animals treated at his facility are well taken care of and comfortable during their stay.
The animal hospital posted a video last week of Dr. Ross Henderson serenading a nervous dog before her surgery was performed. Ruby, a golden retriever, is seen in the video laying in Henderson's lap while he sings a heartfelt rendition of Elvis Presley's "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You."
"Sometimes your patient just needs you to go the extra mile to make them feel comfortable when they're here for the day to have surgery," the hospital wrote below the video. "Dr. Ross has mastered the technique and sweet Ruby was so thankful for that."
Ruby's surgery reportedly went well and she is healing nicely.
"Dr. Ross does this quite often with pets — his second passion is music!" said practice manager Darcy Holloway, according to WTVT-TV.
The animals often respond to the veterinarian crooner in the way Ruby responds, relaxing in the video, she said.
"Whether it is just the one-on-one attention or the soothing melodies, we don't know!" she said.
Henderson's bio on the animal hospital's website boasts his interest in music.
"When I'm not immersing myself in the latest international veterinary advances in surgery and oncology, I enjoy playing and performing music," he writes.
