Liberal actress Rosie O'Donnell posted on her social media account that she had donated money to a fund supporting Reality Winner, the NSA federal contractor who was arrested for leaking confidential information to the media.

O'Donnell posted a message with the link to the GoFundMe account, saying, "i support reality winner," and, "speak truth to power." Another post called Winner a "brave young patriot."

Winner was arrested Monday after the FBI investigation determined she had printed a highly confidential report and delivered it to the news outlet, The Intercept. While the outlet had obtained the report anonymously, the criminal complaint from the FBI indicates that The Intercept accidentally helped them uncover the identity of the leaker when they sought confirmation from the government of the veracity of the leaked document.

Authorities indicate that Winner confessed to the crime, but she has since plead not guilty in federal court. After her arrest was publicized, online sleuths discovered her Twitter account and learned that it was peppered with vociferous anti-Trump messages.

The GoFundMe has raised over $20,000 toward a goal of $50,000. "This is a time to come together and unite in peace and hope and show the world LOVE ALWAYS WINS over hate!" the description on the page read. "Good resists even when evil persists!"

"These funds will be able to assist with loss of wages," it continued, "counseling from this traumatic experience and to be able to recover from this as Reality & her family rebuilds their lives. Possible expenses for travel for the family and anything they might need to help them through these troubled times."

Some have cast doubt on the official story, including right-wing talker Rush Limbaugh, who painted the story as a conspiracy theory by the media and the left to damage President Donald Trump.

Winner's mother told the media that she was afraid that the Trump administration would make an example out of her daughter as a warning to other current and potential leakers. Leaks from the government to the media have been among the greatest stumbling blocks and frustrations to Trump's agenda.
