Texas airport comes to the rescue after 4-year-old loses teddy bear

Four-year-old Luke Swafford is sleeping a little easier this week after employees at Dallas Love Field Airport went out of their way to find his lost teddy bear.

The young Rockwall, Texas, resident was traveling with his grandparents two weeks ago when his grandmother took the beloved bear he's had since birth out of his bag to comfort him after a long day of travel.

"After such a long day Nana pulled Teddy Bear out of the checked bag to comfort Luke (now way past his bedtime) while waiting on Granddaddy to get the car while seated outside baggage (door #1?) on a bench," the boy's father, Tim Swofford originally said, according to KDFW-TV. "Granddaddy arrived in the Honda Odyssey and while the car was being loaded, Teddy must have got left behind."

The boy’s grandfather drove back to the airport that night, Swofford said, to look for the bear but couldn’t find it.

Swofford used social media as best he could to appeal to anyone at the airport who could help him. ".@SouthwestAir Help!? My son #lost his beloved #TeddyBear outside the bag claim @DallasLoveField July 20, ~8:45 PM," Swofford wrote to the airport in a since-deleted tweet.

Love Field employees responded by tweeting out an alert with a picture of the bear. "SPECIAL LOST ALERT. Please help family find special Teddy Bear (see pic), lost at Love Field 7.20.17 at 8:45 pm curbside," the airport wrote.

By the end of the day, airport employees located the bear and posted a short video on Twitter as one of the employees delivered it to the lost and found office.

"[P]lease let Luke know that we've found Teddy Bear! He'll be @ Lost & Found office waiting 4 his best bud!" Love Field tweeted last Tuesday.

KDFW reported that Luke was reunited with his lost teddy bear Wednesday morning.
