Woman who went viral for flipping off Trump’s motorcade loses job: 'How is that fair?\

The woman who went viral for flipping the bird at President Donald Trump’s passing motorcade last month has lost her job.

What happened?

According to the Huffington Post, the woman who flipped the unsavory sign at Trump is Juli Briskman, and she worked for government contractor Akima LLC. Akima is a marketing and communications firm.

The photo was taken by a White House photographer as Trump’s motorcade was leaving a golf course in Sterling, Virginia, and Briskman was cycling. The photo quickly went viral, so Briskman thought it would be best to inform her employer that the woman in the picture was her.

That was the Monday after the viral photo. By Tuesday, Briskman, a 50-year-old mother of two, was out of a job.

Why was she fired?

Briskman explained to HuffPost that her bosses informed her she was in violation of the company’s social media policy because she had posted the famed image on her Twitter and Facebook profiles.

"They said, ‘We’re separating from you.’ Basically, you cannot have ‘lewd’ or ‘obscene’ things in your social media. So they were calling flipping him off ‘obscene,’” she said.

Briskman said she tried reasoning with her bosses, explaining that she wasn’t on the job when the photo was snapped and her social media profiles didn’t mention her employer. But as a government contractor, her employer said her actions could hurt their business so they had no choice but to separate from her.

Was the company’s policy consistent?

Briskman said she found the policy especially troubling because a male colleague had posted an unsavory comment on Facebook recently and was merely reprimanded — not fired.

According to Briskman, the colleague, who featured Akima in his Facebook header picture, called someone a “a f***ing Libtard a**hole.” He was told only to delete the post.

"How is that any less ‘obscene’ than me flipping off the president?” Briskman questioned. "How is that fair?"

Why did Briskman flip off the president?

She told HuffPost that when she saw Trump’s motorcade drive by, her blood started to boil, and the middle finger was just a reaction.

She explained:

He was passing by and my blood just started to boil. I’m thinking, DACA recipients are getting kicked out. He pulled ads for open enrollment in Obamacare. Only one-third of Puerto Rico has power. I’m thinking, he’s at the damn golf course again. I flipped off the motorcade a number of times.

What does she plan to do next?

Briskman told HuffPost she plans to get a job with an advocacy group that she believes in, such as PETA or Planned Parenthood.
