Nashville teens fail at two carjackings after woman fights back, other car has manual transmission

Two teenagers tried to carjack two vehicles in the Green Hills area of Nashville, Tennessee. But their plans ended with a thud after one of their victims fought back and the other victim's car had a manual transmission, which they couldn't drive.

Who fought back?

The suspects, ages 15 and 17, first attempted to steal a car from a woman in the Hill Center parking garage on Hillsboro Pike on Tuesday around 6:20 p.m., WKRN-TV reported.

Each suspect ran up to opposite sides of the woman's vehicle. They opened the doors and yelled for her to get out. They then tried to pull her out of the car, but she screamed and held down her car horn, causing them to run off, the TV station stated.

The victim reportedly had minor injuries but did not need to go to a hospital for treatment.

About one hour later, the teens approached a woman who was near her car in the Kroger parking lot on 21st Avenue South.

They grabbed her keys out of her hand and jumped in her car, only to find they couldn't drive it because it had a manual transmission.

Were they taken into custody?

Police found the two in the area a short time later and took them into custody.

Both suspects were charged in juvenile court with attempted robbery/carjacking and attempted theft of a vehicle, WKRN reported.
