Kimmel asks oblivious citizens who they’re voting for. The TV character answers are depressing.

The cast of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" visited the Arizona State Fair for a segment that aired Thursday night, which featured prospective voters declaring their support for people who don't even exist.

In a highly contested race, Democrat Kyrsten Sinema is facing off against Republican Martha McSally to fill the vacancy that will be left by Sen. Jeff Flake's (R-Ariz.) departure.

What are the details of the segment?

In the segment, the cast of the show — sans Kimmel — asked voters if they would be voting for one of two candidates. Except the candidates that the Kimmel staffers named were fictional television characters.

Unfortunately, the majority of fairgoers featured in "Lie Witness News: Fake Candidate Edition" were none the wiser.

In the video, one Kimmel staffer asked a woman, "You have a big election coming up here in Arizona on Nov. 6; will you be supporting Republican incumbent Dorothy Zbornak, or the Democrat, Blanche Devereaux?" Both are characters on "Golden Girls."

The woman answered, "Republican, yeah." She even went on to claim that she had participated in early voting via mail-in.

The vast majority of people featured in the video said that they were voting for the fake Republican candidates.
