Democrats are cringing at what Joe Biden said about accusations of inappropriate touching
April 05, 2019
"This is Joe Biden, right? He keeps stepping in it."
Possible presidential candidate Joe Biden made many cringe when he made awkward jokes about inappropriate touching after he was accused by various sources of making them feel uncomfortable with his touchy behavior.
"I just want you to know I had permission to hug Lonnie!" Biden joked to an audience after hugging union president Lonnie Stephenson.
He later made a similar joke after hugging a child on stage.
"By the way, he gave me permission to touch him!" he said.
The audience laughed, but Democrats and pundits did not find it humorous.
"Making light of it?" asked CNN's Kiran Chetry. "Sort of, I don't know, leaves me scratching my head."
"Yeah, it kind of undoes the video, right? said Nia Maliki Henderson, CNN's political reporter, referring to the apology video Biden posted. "Here, I think in many ways he undoes that by making light of it, and then making it out to be one big joke."
"This is Joe Biden, right?" she added. "He keeps stepping in it."
Biden spoke the media and made it clear that he didn't regret any of his actions.
"I am sorry I didn't understand more," he said.
"I am not sorry for any of my intentions. I am not sorry for anything that I have ever done," he continued. "I've never been disrespectful, intentionally, to a man or a woman."
Biden also told the press that he wouldn't be surprised if more people accused him of inappropriately touching them.
