Democrats are reportedly dumping big bucks into abortion-related advertising

Democrats have funneled a massive amount of money into advertising that references the issue of abortion, pouring more than an estimated $124 million this year into TV ads that refer to the topic, according to the Associated Press.

Leftists are outraged that the U.S. Supreme Court returned to the states the authority to decide how to regulate the issue of abortion. A high court opinion released earlier this year declared, "The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives."

AP — which noted that the estimated spending amounts are connected to an AP analysis of data supplied by AdImpact — reported that following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, about a third of TV ad spending from Democrats and their allies has pertained to abortion.

"The AdImpact data captures every single time a campaign ad is aired on TV, and estimates a cost associated with those airings," the AP noted.

Democrats' massive outlays for abortion-related TV ads this year through September 18 exceed the GOP's national spending for ads pertaining to the economy, crime, and immigration, according to the outlet.

Back during the 2018 midterms, Democrats shelled out below $6 million for TV ads pertaining to abortion. But Democrats forked over $51 million for ads pertaining to then-President Donald Trump, $49 million on the issue of healthcare, and $46 million for the topic of education, the AP reported, citing AdImpact.

AP noted that Democrats and the party's allies have aired in excess of 68,000 TV ads referring to abortion so far in September.

"It's very clear that that's the only thing that Democrats have to run on, right? They don't run on a good economy. They can't run on community being safer. They can't run on education," GOP chair Ronna McDaniel said, according to the outlet. "So what are they going to do? They're going to make everything about abortion, which means we're going to have to talk about it as Republicans do."
