Flight attendant saves a couple's honeymoon after bride forgets her passport

A quick-thinking flight attendant helped Michigan newlyweds take the honeymoon of their dreams — even after the bride forgot her passport.

Sometime in February, Joe and Lawryn Fellwok had just gotten married. They soon afterward boarded a Delta flight out of Detroit headed for San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they would then embark on a Caribbean cruise. However, just as they were taking off, the new Mrs. Fellwok made an awful discovery. According to Joe, she turned to him in a panic. "Oh, [blank]! I don't have my passport! What do we do?" she said.

According to a Facebook post from Delta, Lawryn was "inconsolable" during the flight. The newly hitched team kept trying to come up with a plan to salvage their honeymoon cruise, but nothing seemed like it would work. Out of ideas and running out of time, Joe decided to throw "a Hail Mary" and ask for help from Delta flight attendant Dusty Dills.

Dills had an idea. He told the couple that after they landed in San Juan, he would be returning to Detroit. "So if you can somehow get the passport to DTW around 9:00 or whatever it is I land, I can then take it with me the next day to Atlanta," Dills said, according to Joe.

It sounded like a long shot, but it was all the Fellwoks had. The couple got in touch with Joe's sister Jackie, who had just dropped them off at Detroit Metro a few hours earlier. Jackie found the passport, met up with Dills at DTW, snapped a photo with him (which can be seen in the Facebook post below), and hoped for the best.

Dills was as good as his word. He took the passport with him to Atlanta and found a coworker bound for San Juan. With a little luck and lots of help from other Delta employees, Lawryn got her passport with just an hour and a half to spare. The happy couple had the trip of a lifetime and were so appreciative of the efforts from Dills and another Delta worker that they invited them to attend their wedding reception held a few weeks after they returned from the Caribbean.

"We have so many friends and family that have been following our story and are so excited to meet Dusty," Lawryn said. "So to just bring him and his fellow flight attendants into our community. I'm so excited. I hope we stay friends for much longer after this."

"Having Dusty do all that for us really kind of instilled faith in me that there are still good people out there," added husband Joe.

Dills was also moved by the experience. "This was so much larger than me," he said. "During this whole process, it really taught me so much about the importance of teamwork."

"I consider that the greatest wedding gift we could have asked for," Lawryn said. "I felt like probably the luckiest bride on Earth."
