Georgia teen allegedly steals man's gun and shoots him to death in a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot

A Georgia 17-year-old was booked on felony murder charges in a shooting death that took place in a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot on Friday, according to DeKalb County Sheriff's Office documents.

"I feel like we’re living in our last days. It’s just crazy,” Shanice Burrow, who stopped by Dunkin’ for her morning coffee, told WSB. “You can’t even get coffee. You can’t even get a sub sandwich. You can’t go to the mall.”

Police identified 41-year-old Brian Dykes as the victim. Police reportedly found Dykes after being called to the scene at 8:53 Friday morning. Dykes died from an apparent gunshot wound, WXIA reported.

The 17-year-old suspect allegedly grabbed Dykes' gun while Dykes was making a purchase at the donut shop, Lt. Shane Smith told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, adding that the suspect "snatched a firearm from the victim's back waistband."

Dykes then chased the suspect, catching up with him outside the store. Next, a brief struggle ensued. The suspect then shot Dykes and then fled the scene, the outlet also reported.

After pulling surveillance video and canvasing the area, police determined the suspect was staying at a nearby hotel, the AJC and WSB reported.

Lamarion Jayden was arrested Friday afternoon on felony murder and robbery by sudden snatching, according to DeKalb County Sheriff's Office booking documents. Lamarion J Orr is listed as the suspect's alias. The arresting agency is listed as DeKalb County Police Department.

"It would make anyone nervous," one individual told WXIA on the perception of increased danger in the Decatur neighborhood around Candler Road, just off Interstate 20. "Every time you leave your home, you never know. ... You do what you can do to be safe."
"We’re aware of the incident that took place at our franchised location in Decatur, GA. The franchisee is cooperating fully with local authorities as they conduct their investigation. Due to this being an active investigation, we defer any further comment to the local police department," a Dunkin' representative told WSB in a statement.
BlazeMedia requested clarification from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office on the suspect's name, alias, and current status. The sheriff's office did not respond to BlazeMedia in time for publication.
