The Philadelphia Eagles cut star wide receiver DeSean Jackson in 2014 over concerns about his influence on younger players, his connections to Los Angeles gang members, and an unreported 2009 arrest, NJ.com reported.

"God has a plan for me," he told the outlet at the time as he readied to meet his new team, the Washington Redskins, and declared in an statement that reports about him were "irresponsible and just not true."

But the Eagles have been under Super Bowl-winning coach Doug Peterson since then, and this spring Jackson was back in the Eagles' fold through a trade and ready to outrun defensive backs and catch bombs from quarterback Carson Wentz.

Anyone remember him returning this 2010 punt for a touchdown as time expired to cap a 27-point comeback against the New York Giants with less than eight minutes to play?

But Jackson's biggest splash so far in his return to Philly has been helping kids and those less fortunate in the city.

He held held a free football camp for kids in north Philadelphia on Saturday morning, NBC Sports reported.

"I am very blessed and fortunate to be back in Philadelphia, and I feel it's my responsibility to give back," Jackson told the network. "This is about helping the community and inspiring our youth to strive for greatness."

And on Saturday night he and others drove throughout Philadelphia to pass out meals and shirts to those in need, Bleacher Report noted.

It wasn't a one-time thing for Jackson, as he spoke to students at Boys' Latin Charter School in west Philadelphia on May 1 and encouraged them to work hard and stay out of trouble.

"Every day I chase to win. I don't chase to lose," he said, according to ESPN. "We're not losers. Everybody in this room today has a destination in life. You've got a born date and you've got a death date. In between that time, how are you going to make the most out of it?"
