Left-wing lawmaker loses it, spews furious, pro-trans chant amid legislative session: 'Trans people belong here! We need trans people! We love trans people!'

A left-wing Nebraska lawmaker lost it during a Friday morning legislative session, spewing an angry, pro-transgender chant at the microphone — a verbal display that made national news.

"Trans people belong here! We need trans people! We love trans people!" Democrat state Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh hollered over and over again.

At issue was a bill banning sex-change procedures for minors in the state, Fox News said. Evidently Cavanaugh didn't like the bill — not one little bit.

Here's a shortened version of her jaw-dropping chant inside the esteemed chamber:

She didn't immediately launch into her chant, however. After approaching the microphone, Cavanaugh offered a curious, almost dramatic smile and spoke in measured tones.

"Trans people belong here. We need trans people. We love trans people. That's what they're saying out there," she stated while grinning widely, pointing toward unseen protesters. "They're standing in a circle in the rotunda saying that. Over and over again."

Cavanaugh then calmly repeated the phrase: "Trans people belong here. We need trans people. We love trans people."

But she wouldn't stay calm for long. After Cavanaugh repeated the pro-trans phrase with more intensity and volume, she just kept turning up the dial until she was screaming the phrase and banging the podium. She repeated the phrase about 30 times.

When she was done with her chant, an out-of-breath and near-tears Cavanaugh declared, "You matter! You matter! And I am fighting for you! And I will not stop! I will not stop today, I will not stop tomorrow! You are loved! You matter! You belong here!"

Anything else?

The legislature passed the "Let Them Grow Act" Friday, which bans most abortions after 12 weeks as well as transgender medical procedures for those under age 19.

"All children deserve a chance to grow and live happy, fruitful lives. This includes pre-born boys and girls, and it includes children struggling with their gender identity," Republican Gov. Jim Pillen said in a statement Friday. He's expected to sign the bill into law Monday.

State Patrol brought in additional officers for security purposes as hundreds of protesters flooded the Capitol Friday, the Nebraska Examiner reported, adding that six people were arrested.

Two of the arrestees were women who reportedly threw tampons and pads from the balcony of the legislative chamber. Two more refused to leave the viewing galleries when directed to do so. Another was arrested in the rotunda after tangling with the sergeant at arms over opening a door. The last was arrested after punching a trooper.
