Minnesota state Rep. Liz Boldon has deleted a tone-deaf tweet in which she said that being a mother is the toughest job she will ever face, asserted that nobody should be obliged to become a parent, and then included a pro-choice hashtag to conclude the post.
"Being a mom is the hardest job I'll ever have. No one should be forced to be a parent. #AbortionIsHealthcare," Boldon's now-deleted tweet read.
Boldon, a Democrat who took office in 2021, is currently running for state senate this year.
"Stunningly ghoulish tweet," legislative director for the Minnesota House Republican caucus Gavin Hanson remarked regarding the Democratic state lawmaker's comments.

In another deleted tweet, Boldon had written, "I know some are uncomfortable w/the language I used here. I love being a mom, it's the most important thing I'll ever do but that doesn't take away the challenges faced by women every day & I believe everyone should have the choice of if and when to become a parent."

In a statement in June about the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Boldon described the decision as an attack on human rights and claimed that the move would lead to numerous deaths.
"Today's Supreme Court decision is devastating and while it may have been expected, it still comes as a shock to millions across the country. This is a clear assault on human rights and a decision which will result in thousands of deaths and dangerous under-the-table procedures. While abortion is still legal in Minnesota, this right is being attacked by state Republican leaders. I will do everything I can to maintain women's right to choose and have autonomy over their bodies. Abortion is healthcare, a right, and a personal decision, and I will continue to do all I can to make it legal and accessible to all," Boldon said in the statement.
