Human head found inside home of suspected 83-year-old serial killer after cops discovered limbless torso and severed leg around NYC: Police

A severed human head was discovered in the home of an 83-year-old killer who had previously been convicted of taking the lives of two women.

Harvey Marcelin was arrested on March 4, and charged with concealment of a human corpse. The NYPD informed WNYW that they expect there to be more charges. Marcelin – who is a transgender woman – was held without bail.

Police arrested Marcelin one day after the grisly discovery of a limbless and headless torso. The dismembered torso was reportedly found stuffed in a multi-colored bag with a flower decal inside a shopping cart in East New York, the New York Daily News reported.

A surveillance camera purportedly caught Marcelin disposing of the torso.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Marcelin's home where they discovered a human head believed to belong to 68-year-old victim Susan Leyden, prosecutors said.

"(Leyden) never exits the residence," court papers state.

Surveillance video showed Leyden holding the same colorful bag while entering Marcelin's building on Feb. 27. Authorities reviewed video from Marcelin's building, and noticed that the convicted killer was using the same bag on March 2, and deposited it in the nearby trash.

On Monday, police found a severed human leg inside a parked car in Cypress Hills – approximately two miles from where the torso was discovered, according to WCBS-TV. Authorities believe the leg belongs to Leyden.

"Investigators believe he used a saw to dismember a woman's body," WCBS-TV reported.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office said the case remains under investigation.

Marcelin previously served two stints in prison for killing two girlfriends.

"The octogenarian spent more than 50 years in state prison on murder and manslaughter convictions dating to 1963, state prison records show," the New York Post reported. "That rap stemmed from the April 18, 1963, shooting death of her live-in girlfriend, Jacqueline Bonds, inside the couple’s Manhattan apartment, according to sources."

Marcelin was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison and was released on lifetime parole in 1984, according to records.

Less than a year after being released from prison, Marcelin allegedly stabbed another girlfriend to death and dumped her remains near Central Park.

Marcelin was convicted of manslaughter in the first degree and sentenced to a maximum of 12 years in prison. Marcelin was released from the Cayuga Correctional Facility in August 2019, according to the New York Department of Corrections database.

At a State Parole Board appearance in August 1997, Marcelin admitted to having "problems" with women.
