Woman says neighbor's pet monkey nearly ripped her ear off and slapped her friend in the face before he shot it to death

A pet monkey's rampage was ended when it was shot dead by the friend of a woman whose ear was nearly ripped off by the animal.

Brittany Parker told KOKH-TV that she was sitting in her front yard in Dickson, Oklahoma, on Sunday afternoon when she saw the monkey.

"I was sitting here in this exact spot and I looked out the window and there was a monkey looking at me," Parker said. "I took a second glance and said 'Oh my God! There is a monkey on the front porch.'"

She said the monkey broke her door trying to get inside.

"The monkey was trying to get into my house," Parker said. "The little button that you push in on the screen door, he broke it off. I was literally hanging onto my door trying to hold it closed."

She called the police at about 6 p.m. and went outside when they arrived. That's when the monkey attacked.

"He jumped up on my back and landed on my head," Parker said. "He started grabbing handfuls of hair and just ripped it out. He ripped my ear almost completely off of my head."

The monkey ran off after the attack, and police said they went to look for it when they heard two gunshots. Dickson police Chief Tim Duncan said that the shots came from the area of Parker's residence, and officers found that someone had shot and killed the animal.

Parker said the person was her friend.

"We called him and he came over here, and after I had been attacked, the monkey went out to his vehicle, slapped him across the face, and pulled his hair," Parker told KTEN-TV.

Police said it was not illegal to own the monkey and that the animal did not have rabies.

Parker says she will need plastic surgery to fix her ear, and she cannot work because of her injuries.

"It was all very scary," said Parker. "It was very traumatizing."

The name of the monkey was Jack.

Dickson police said that the emergency call was the strangest one they had ever received.
