Billy Bush has finally opened up about the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape where Donald Trump bragged about his penchant for “grabbing women by the p****.”
About a month before the 2016 election, a video surfaced with Bush chatting behind the scenes with Trump and egging him on as the “Apprentice” star bragged that he liked to assault women he had just met by grabbing them and touching them inappropriately. Bush talked about a difficult phone call with his then-15-year-old daughter after the tape came out, telling The Hollywood Reporter:
“It hit really hard, and I stopped for a second, and I said, ‘I have no answer for that that's any good. I am really sorry. That was Dad in a bad moment a long time ago. You know me. I am really sorry that you had to hear and see that. I love you.’”
On Tuesday’s “Pat & Stu,” the guys took a look at the interview and marveled that while Bush’s career took a huge hit, Trump managed to overcome the scandal to become president.
Ironically, Trump is able to overcome scandal because he already has such a terrible reputation, Stu Burguiere pointed out. On the other hand, if someone like Sen. Ted Cruz had been the Republican nominee and a video like the “Access Hollywood” tape came it, it would wreck his chances.
“So Billy Bush, his career is over, but Donald Trump is president. It’s incredible,” Stu said. “If you’re thought of as a good guy in any way, there’s no way to survive that scandal.”
