Here's how to identify and combat squash bugs

Not many of us can boast a quart of homemade, home-grown hot pepper sauce brewing in their home office, but Miss E of "40 Acres and a Fool" can. She and Cam Edwards also have pumpkins in their garden, which currently have squash bugs growing in a remarkably geometrical pattern on their crop.

"I don't feel like we've won yet," Cam said of the war against the reportedly unintelligent bugs, but they've at least "drawn to a stalemate."

They've also put in a raised bed for their tomato plants, but realize they need to get some stakes in for next year as they are getting indiscriminately tall.
