The GOP is fighting to pass a bill that would repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. The new health care bill has passed in the House last week and is next up for a vote in the Senate.
On Monday’s “Pat & Stu,” Stu Burguiere talked about the new bill, explaining why it’s not a good option even though it is slightly better than Obamacare. He envisioned a scale ranging from libertarianism, representing virtually no government interference, to socialism and total government control, and explained where the new bill would put the U.S. on that scale.
Liberals have responded to the American Health Care Act with vitriol, accusing Republicans of sexism, racism and worse.
“Every Republican hates people, poor people, women and health,” Stu explained sarcastically.
While Democrats can complain about Trumpcare, they’ve actually gotten the better end of the bargain, Stu asserted. Liberals wanted to add more government, while some conservative lawmakers wanted a lot less; the resulting compromise is still basically Obamacare. The GOP has simply taken a version of the Affordable Care Act and put their own stamp on it.
“Love it or hate it, the Democrats won here,” Stu said. “You’ve got a Republican president, you’ve got a Republican Senate and you’ve got a Republican House, and they still won’t even attempt to pass something good.”
