Today, Pat and Jeffy filled in for Glenn and discussed Canadian gun laws -- and there's a lot of those. While we take precautions here in America and honor the Constitution, Canada apparently requires your spouse to sign off on your gun purchases and if they don't, the authorities will notify them of your purchase anyway.
We obtained the lengthy document which you can see for yourself below.
According to boxes 18 and 19 of the Royal Canadian's Application for a Possession and Acquisition Licence Under the Firearms Act (for Individuals Aged 18 and Over):
The signatures of your current or former conjugal partners is not legally required. However, if their signatures is not provided, the Chief Firearms Officer has a duty to notify them of your application for a firearms licence.
The idea that spouses, exes, and recent conjugal partners can potentially prevent you from buying a gun in Canada is just insane. If you happen to not have a spouse who can sign off for you, a long and boring licensing course is required as Jeffy's Canadian friend in Ottawa and friend of the program explained.
