Technology has made us more connected and disconnected than ever

One of the most reliable factors in success is how many people you know, but connecting isn’t just about having hundreds of Facebook friends, Rabbi Daniel Lapin explained on this week’s episode of "The Rabbi Daniel Lapin Show."

The real test to know how many friends you have is by totaling how many people would take your phone call, Rabbi Lapin asserted. Building a network of friends is about both how many connections you make and how effectively you connect with people.

Rabbi Lapin also detailed the pattern of economic growth and connections. Whenever technological advancement lets people connect with one another, a burst of economic growth follows. The telegraph, the phone, television, and the internet are all examples of technology that revolutionized how people connect and resulted in an “explosion” of businesses and job growth in every industry, Rabbi Lapin explained.

Like many other things in life, making real connections takes practice. “There are many, many wrong ways to do it, and not a lot of right ways to do it,” Rabbi Lapin noted.
