Chicago maternity wards are absolutely bursting with newborns this month. Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center reported twice as many deliveries during the week of July 10 than is usual, says the Chicago Tribune.
Why so many bundles of joy? Chicago residents don’t have to be asked twice; the Cubs finally won Major League Baseball's World Series on November 2, 2016 after waiting 108 years. Add nine months, and you have a pretty good idea of why all those miracles are entering the world now.
Chicago born-and-bred Mike Opelka speculated that “couples celebrated the Cub’s victory” on today’s “Pure Opelka.” Advocate seems to have drawn the same conclusion, as they held a “World Championship Babies” event on Wednesday, giving Cubs fan club memberships and onesies to infants in the ward.
“There were a lot of home runs hit that night after the Cubbies won,” Mike observed.
