Ben Shapiro: The government should leave people alone

"Relatable" host, Allie Beth Stuckey, was joined by Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro to discuss why the government should leave people alone.

Recently, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), a 2020 presidential candidate, began advocating to pass a law that would require all state-level abortion legislation to go through the Department of Justice to see the law matched up with Roe v. Wade.

According to Allie, any law requiring the federal government to intervene with the legislative process at the state level would be a violation of federal law. She asked Shapiro how conservatives are supposed to approach the issue.

Shapiro explained the most critical step was to know the role of government and listed the following three examples to illustrate his point:

  • The vision of the left is that the government is there to cram down their social values on you, your church, your life, and your children.
  • The vision of Libertarians is that the government is there to stay out of your business, and you are there to build a social fabric in the absence of government, and culture precedes politics.
  • The visions of conservatives is that there is no common space anymore and that we must take over the means of government and use it for ourselves.
