Bishop: 'We are disrespecting one another' because we only care about 'My rights over your rights

Bishop Jim Lowe joined Glenn today on “Glenn” to discuss why God, love, and respect should be at the center of the protests around the nation.

Following events in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend, the hateful rhetoric, and increased unrest, the bishop did not mince words when it came to diagnosing the state of the nation.

He harshly criticized today’s activists and pointed out the fundamental characteristics they lack that civil rights leaders of the 1960s were admired for, saying, “If you do what Martin Luther King did, civil disobedience was also based upon a principle that was number one in civil disobedience: love and respect for every individual.”

“They were led by spiritual leaders. Where are the spiritual leaders in what we see that’s going on now? In fact, there’s no reference to love. There’s no reference to God in these things. It’s based upon what a man thinks is right. And remember, the Bible has taught us when everyone goes their own way, there’s going to be chaos. There’s going to be confusion. And people are going to suffer, because it’s not based upon the fundamental principle of who God is, and that’s love,” said Bishop Lowe.
