Have you ever stopped to wonder why we celebrate Valentine's Day?
While it’s tough to pinpoint exactly, many historians agree, it finds its roots in the Ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia which took place yearly in mid-February. During the celebrations, men would run the city streets slapping everyone they encountered with strips of blood-soaked animal hide. Pregnant and infertile women would purposefully reach their hands into the fray believing the crimson smacks were beneficial for childbirth.
