Illegal immigrant believed to have killed girlfriend as search continues for her baby

What happened?

Everado Donoteo-Reyes, 25, is an illegal immigrant who came to the U.S. from Mexico. He is in jail facing charges related to the death of his 18-year-old girlfriend, Selena Hidalgo-Calderon, who was last seen alive on May 16. Her 14-month-old son, Owen Hidalgo-Calderon, has disappeared.

"I do believe that [Donoteo-Reyes] is involved in the homicide of Selena," Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts told WHEC News10. "I will be putting that case together and we'll have to go by the facts and our interviews and what we find in regards to Owen."

Are police still searching?

The authorities are still searching for the child, but state police decided to cancel an Amber Alert for Owen that was issued last week, the Associated Press reported.

What else should I know?

Donoteo-Reyes, who has been deported from the country twice before and returned, was captured on video going in and out of the woods with a shovel. He has admitted to burying Hidalgo-Calderon but not to killing her, and so far, he has been charged with tampering with evidence.

This tragic story won’t be part of the mainstream media news cycle because it contradicts the liberal belief that all illegal immigrants are just innocent people looking for a better life.

“A heinous, cold-blooded murder doesn’t count as news when or if it was committed by an illegal immigrant,” Glenn said. “Because if they report this, it disproves their narrative.”
