On Friday's segment of "Chewing the Fat" with Jeffy Fisher, the Transportation Administration Administration's ability to continue to grope and harass passengers was on the table. That's because, in a 2-1 vote, the 3rd U.S. Circuit of Appeals in Philadelphia granted TSA screeners immunity under federal law.
The case was brought on by a Boca Raton business consultant who sued for false arrest and false imprisonment in July 2006 at Philadelphia International Airport. In court papers, Nadine Pellegrino alleged that she was randomly selected by the agents then subjected to an additional screening before boarding a flight to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Why do they need immunity?
The court felt the need to protect agents under a federal law that governs false arrests, assaults, and other abuse.
