Teen fascinated by ISIS tried to detonate a bomb at his school

What happened?

A teenage student at Pine View High School in Utah has been arrested and charged after trying to detonate a bomb at his school. Police are not naming the suspect or giving his age.

The homemade bomb failed to go off and was discovered in a common area at the school by a student who reported a smoking backpack. The school was evacuated for two hours, but no one was injured.

Yikes …

The authorities confirmed that the teenage suspect was inspired by ISIS to bring a homemade bomb to his school.

“Based on our investigation we can confirm this was a failed attempt to detonate a homemade explosive at the school. It was also determined that the male had been researching information and expressing interest in ISIS and promoting the organization,” police told the Associated Press.

What else should I know?

The student is also a suspect in a separate ISIS-related incident. An American flag was found slashed on the ground with the ISIS flag raised on Feb. 15 at Hurricane High School – the day after the shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Glenn’s take:

Like the Parkland shooting, this attack was preceded by red flags. Why aren’t we talking about the real problems and intervening when teenage boys show disturbing behavior? Unfortunately, the mainstream media won’t be giving this story the same kind of airtime they gave Parkland since it didn’t involve a gun.

“Imagine if this attacker had attempted this with an AR-15,” Glenn said. “Media coverage would be blowing up.”
