In his new book, "Written Out of History: The Forgotten Founders Who Fought Big Government," Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) explores the stories of people like Mum Bett who have been erased from our history books.
The first African-American woman to escape slavery by bringing a lawsuit, Mum Bett sought the help of an abolitionist lawyer and successfully sued for her freedom.
