Watch: 'Feminism' is the word of the year, but do we know what it means?
December 27, 2017
What happened?
Merriam-Webster recently announced that "feminism" was its word of the year. The online dictionary said that "feminism" had more searches than any other word in 2017 and generated 70 percent more searches year over year.
“Feminism” is a noun defined by Merriam-Webster as “the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes” and “organized activity on behalf of women’s rights and interests.”
Glenn's take:
"Feminism" in our society has gotten away from its roots, and today's movement is no longer solely about equality. Glenn gave his definition of feminism for Merriam-Webster's benefit: "Leftist activism that is fueled by perpetuating the victimization of women."
