Watch: ‘History will judge us’: Glenn calls for a ‘decent conversation’ on this divisive issue

What’s going on?

The Senate remained divided on the pro-life question on Monday, voting 51-46 against a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks. Democrats Joe Manchin, Joe Donnelly and Bob Casey split off from the party vote to support the ban, while Republicans Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski voted to block it.

Why 20 weeks?

Advocates have fought for the 20-week ban based on research indicating that babies can feel pain at that point in gestation, giving the bill its name: Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

Glenn’s take:

“So does that mean that a baby that is 19 weeks and six days old – do they not feel pain?” Glenn asked.

In a hundred years, people will call us “monsters” and ask why we didn’t stand up against this evil.

“History will judge us,” Glenn said.
