WATCH: Trump announces his plan to end birthright citizenship by way of executive order

On Tuesday's "Pat Gray Unleashed," Pat discussed breaking news about President Donald Trump's plan to end birthright citizenship by way of an executive order, which he announced during an interview with Axios.

Trump stated his disapproval of the current system that allows children born to noncitizen parents while on American soil to be granted citizenship.

What did Trump say?

Trump was asked if he believed that he could get rid of birthright citizenship without changing the Constitution.  Trump claimed that he could stop birthright citizenship "with an executive order."

"No. 1, it was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what, you don't," Trump said.

"No. 2, you can definitely do it with an act of Congress, but now they are saying I can just do it with an executive order. Now, how ridiculous, we are the only country in the world where a person comes and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States ... with all of those benefits? It's ridiculous and it has to end," Trump said.

Trump said he has talked about this with his council and reiterated that the process is in the works.

The 14th Amendment

The 14th Amendment was originally written to protect the rights of slaves in South after the Civil War. The 14th Amendment states:

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Pat lamented that birthright citizenship may not be the fault of a child born to illegal immigrant parents, but the American people are not at fault either. The fault falls on the mother who has made the choice to give birth in a country that is not her own.
