YouTube creator Chelsea Crockett has a new book about love, beauty, confidence and her Christian faith called “Your Own Beautiful.” With more than 1.5 million subscribers, Crockett has built up quite a following.

How did she connect with her viewers? What are her thoughts on the future of social media? What new challenges are YouTube creators facing as the platform changes?

Crockett shared her experience building an audience over the past five years and analyzed future challenges as the digital world gets a lot more crowded. Her first tip for anyone trying to build a following: Don’t underestimate how much work you'll need to put into it.

“It just takes a lot of hard work and dedication, first of all,” she said. “It’s not just going to be something that happens overnight.”
