Liberal TV host criticizes Hillary Clinton for blaming her loss on 'fake news

Liberal MSNBC co-host Mika Brzezinski said Friday morning that Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign was "shooting the wrong messenger" when it reportedly tried to silence people who said President-elect Donald Trump might actually win the election, despite numerous reports by the mainstream media suggesting otherwise.

“I was concerned the campaign was not understanding that perhaps there was an arrogance. They needed to sort of get off their high horse and understand that this isn’t over," Brzezinski said of her statements at the time.

The "Morning Joe" co-host then revealed that the Clinton campaign called her bosses at NBC for even suggesting that Clinton might not win.

"I’ll just say it: NBC got a call from the campaign. Like I had done something that was journalistically inappropriate or something and needed to be pulled off the air," Brzezinski added. “I mean, think about that. That’s just — shooting the wrong messenger.”

Co-host Joe Scarborough, who is a former Republican congressman, followed up by saying people close to the campaign were "shut out" for suggesting before Election Day that the Democratic candidate might be in trouble.

The segment aired hours after Clinton delivered a speech on Capitol Hill on Thursday evening at an event honoring retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

Clinton also took a moment during her speech to seemingly blame "fake news" for her defeat: “It’s now clear that so-called fake news can have real world consequences. This isn’t about politics or partisanship. Lives are at risk. Lives of ordinary people just trying to go about their days to do their jobs, contribute to their communities."

Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway fired back Thursday, telling Fox News:

The most fake piece of news I heard all along, up until Election Day and still hear from some people, is that Donald Trump couldn't win. How's that for fake news, misleading news? The fake news certainly was that Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania were all sewed up, that we couldn't bust through the blue wall.
