Arizona twins born on different days in different years

An Arizona mom celebrated the New Year by delivering her twins on different days in different years, according to KNXV-TV.

Holly and Brandon Shay told KNXV that they weren’t expecting their fraternal twin boys for another few weeks when Holly went into labor on New Year’s Eve.

After six hours of labor, the couple’s first son, Sawyer, was born at 11:51 p.m.

“I wanted to make sure he was OK, and they had to keep reminding me that I had to push," Holly said.

Their second son, Everett, arrived shortly after Sawyer’s birth — at 12:01 a.m on New Year’s Day.

“I think Sawyer might give his brother a hard time,” Holly said.

“I think it’s mostly going to be Sawyer teasing Everett over him being the eldest,” Brandon added.

Holly told the Arizona Republic that despite the fact that her sons will have different birthdays, "it was a perfect birth."

“Everett might disagree, but that's because he's just stubborn," Brandon interjected.

The Republic notes that the couple also has two daughters, aged 4 and 13.

"It's nice to have two boys ... welcome testosterone in the family," Brandon said, adding "What a way to say, 'Happy New Year.”
