Hollywood actor reveals extremely disturbing dream about Trump, defends Kathy Griffin's gory photo

Actor and comedian Jim Carrey told Entertainment Tonight that he was "considering his options" in a dream where he was standing next to President Donald Trump holding a golf club.

"I had a dream the other night I was playing golf with Donald Trump," Carey told ET. "I was standing beside him with a club in my hand, and I was considering my options when I suddenly woke up."

After a pause, Carrey continued, "It was one of those dreams where you just want to get back to sleep so you can finish it, you know?"

About Kathy Griffin's gory photoshoot depicting a model of the president's decapitated head — and the media circus surrounding the incident — Carrey became defensive.

"I think it is the job of a comedian to cross the line at all times," he explained, "because that line is not real."

Claiming that Hollywood comedians are liberals' "last line of defense," Carrey said, "If you step out into that spotlight and you're doing the crazy things that [Trump is] doing ... really, the comedians are the last voice of truth in this whole thing. It's impossible to get away from it."

On Tuesday, Griffin faced backlash from both the right and left for her role in the photoshoot and issued an apology shortly after she saw the general reaction to the photo.

“I sincerely apologize,” Griffin began on camera. “I am just now seeing the reaction of these images. I’m a comic, I cross the line — I move the line, then I cross it; I went way too far.”

She continued and added, “The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny — I get it.”

The comedienne was fired from her New Year's Eve hosting duties at CNN, a place she held for the last 10 years alongside Anderson Cooper.

“We found what she did disgusting and offensive. We are pleased to see she has apologized and asked that the photos be taken down,” a CNN spokesperson said Tuesday night.
