Erick Erickson joined the CRTV lineup on Sunday with his new pilot series, “The Resurgent Family.”
While Erickson’s influential conservative website, The Resurgent, is known for political commentary, “The Resurgent Family” focuses on faith and family in America. In a press release, Erickson described CRTV as a platform where families with traditional values can “have the crucial conversations we need to have about getting our kids through the insanity in our culture — without bowing to the demands of liberal advertisers.”
In the premiere episode, Erickson was joined by She Is Safe Founder Michele Rickett to discuss the devastating impact of human trafficking in the United States.
“As the United States has gotten tougher on immigration and started checking for human trafficking, we’re now seeing a dangerous new trend in the country. To keep up with demand, Americans are being kidnapped into the slave trade. For the first time in years, more American kids are being sexually trafficked than foreign women imported,” Erickson said.
Rickett told Erickson how human trafficking today begins online. Kids can quickly become the victim of more than one type of abuse, as drugs are often also involved.
“Drugs are so very powerful now; in just a day or two, a child will do anything for the drugs that have been introduced,” she said.
Erickson also spoke with Katie, a trafficking survivor who was sold by her own father.
“I thought this was just normal,” she said. “You know, you’re at home, all this hell breaks loose, and then you go out and play with your friends … I was a varsity softball player. I was on the drill team for ROTC, raider team, color guard, honor guard, all that. And I was making pretty good grades in school. And no one knew really what was going on.”
