Gavin McInnes tells Glenn Beck who should be silenced: 'Zero people at all'

Conservative Review

On Monday, CRTV host Gavin McInnes was interviewed by Glenn Beck about being banned from Twitter for his supposed association with violent extremist groups and the alt-right.

He denounced the alt-right and the alt-left, or Antifa, and defended free speech.

"The alt-right is the alt-left. They both hate Israel. They both hate Jews. They're both obsessed with identity politics. They're both socialists who want maximum government," McInnes said.

Asked by Beck who should be silenced, Gavin's reply was simple: "Zero people at all."

"You need to fight for uncomfortable speech. And if you have faith in humanity and faith in human beings and think we're all inherently good deep down, then you want the truth out. Sunlight is the best disinfectant; let's discuss it. But the Left doesn't want that because they're socialists, they want to control the narrative, and they want to control people."

The interview starts at 37:18. Listen:

"Was there any part of that that shouldn't have been heard today?" Beck asked at the end of the interview.

"I don't have to agree with people; in fact, I expect not to agree with people," Beck added. "But their voices should be heard and we have to have these open dialogues that end in respect for one another, because if we don't, then the only thing left is violence. We have to have respectful debates."

Editor's note: The title has been amended for accuracy. The word "banned" was changed to "silenced" shortly after publishing.
