The Republican primary for the special election in Utah to fill the House of Representatives seat vacated by Republican Jason Chaffetz’s retirement ends tonight. There are three leading candidates in the primary, who vie to face the Democratic nominee for Utah’s 3rd Congressional District in the general.
Conservative Christopher Herrod, with the backing of Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rand Paul, R-Ky., faces frontrunner and establishment favorite John Curtis, a former Democrat and current mayor of Provo. Also running is Tanner Ainge, a political newcomer campaigning as a conservative.
