Matt Rosendale vs. Troy Downing vs. Russ Fagg vs. Albert Olszewski: LIVE Montana primary election results
June 05, 2018
Tonight in Montana, four Republican candidates are facing off to win the Republican nomination to take on Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont.
Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Mike Lee, R-Utah, along with conservative organizations the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks, and the Senate Conservatives Fund, are backing state auditor and former state legislator Matt Rosendale.
Leading the field in fundraising is businessman Troy Downing. Russ Fagg, a former judge and state representative, is running as a "center-right" and "pragmatic" candidate, and rounding out the field is state Sen. Albert Olszewski, who is promising to oppose Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., if he is elected to the Senate.
Montana uses an open primary system, meaning that registered voters do not need to be affiliated with a party to vote in that party's primary. The polls close at 8:00 p.m. MT.
