Texas runoffs for US Congress: LIVE primary election results

Tonight, the Texas primary elections reach their conclusions in runoffs. Conservatives are paying special attention to four races in particular, where Tea Party organizations like the Club for Growth have gotten involved.

Texas uses an open primary system, meaning voters could vote in either party's primary without registering for that party. However, only individuals who voted in the Republican primary on March 6 will be eligible to vote in the Republican primary runoffs. The polls close at 7 p.m. CDT.

In Texas' 5th Congressional District, Bunni Pounds faces off against state Rep. Lance Gooden. Pounds has been endorsed by the Club for Growth and Freedom Caucus chairman Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C. This race is to fill the seat vacated by retiring Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas.

In Texas' 6th Congressional District, Tarrant County Tax Assessor Ronald Wright is running against U.S. Navy fighter pilot Jake Ellzey. Wright has been endorsed by U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, the Club for Growth, and Texas Right to Life. Ellzey has the endorsement of U.S. Secretary of Energy and former Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas.

Texas' 21st Congressional District is home to the highest-profile primary race in Tuesday's elections. Former Cruz chief of staff Chip Roy is running against businessman Matt McCall. Roy has been endorsed by LevinTV host Mark Levin and is backed by the Club for Growth, Tea Party Express, Sens. Cruz and Mike Lee, R-Utah, conservative writer Erick Erickson, FreedomWorks, the Family Research Council, and various other Tea Party groups. This race is for the seat vacated by retiring Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas.

In Texas' 27th Congressional District, Michael Cloud faces Bech Bruun for the seat formerly held by Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas. Cloud has been endorsed by the House Freedom Fund and former Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas. Bruun is endorsed by Perry, Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, and several state and local officials.
