WV Dem Joe Manchin takes up arms to defend Obamacare in new Senate ad

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., is using his Second Amendment rights to defend Obamacare in a new ad attacking his Republican opponent.

The ad, "Dead Wrong," shows Joe shooting at West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrissey's lawsuit to "take away health care from people with pre-existing conditions." Morrissey was one of 18 state attorneys general to sign on to a lawsuit challenging Obamacare as unlawful.

The ad is a blatant attempt to keep West Virginia voters thinking that Manchin is a "moderate" Democrat, who supports the right to own a gun and opposed the Obama administration's cap-and-trade legislation.

CRTV congressional correspondent Nate Madden reports that Morrissey fired back, attacking Manchin's record and highlighting his "D" rating from the National Rifle Association.

The Morrissey campaign attacked Manchin for voting "against President Trump's efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare."

"Because Manchin voted 'No,' West Virginia's Individual Market Premiums under Obamacare have skyrocketed by an average of $441 since 2013 - a 159 percent increase. Thanks to the continuation of Obamacare, premiums are expected to continue to rise," the campaign email reads.

"West Virginia has been hurt by lying liberal Joe Manchin putting the interest of Washington liberals ahead of the health care and gun rights of West Virginians," said Morrisey for Senate spokesperson Nathan Brand. "Joe Manchin has a "D" rating from the NRA, and voted against President Trump's efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare. Lying liberal Joe has been wrong for West Virginia."
