16-year-old girl in Georgia vanishes without shoes after suspected 'psychotic episode'

A 16-year-old girl in Georgia suddenly disappeared from her home wearing only pajama bottoms and a sweatshirt. It is suspected that she went missing after a mental breakdown, according to the New York Post.

Hydi Cain mysteriously vanished on January 7 after a suspected "psychotic episode," according to a poster. The Fayetteville Police were contacted about the case and soon launched a search for the teen girl. She has been described as blonde, 5'1", and around 130 pounds.

The poster went on to suggest that Cain could be in "grave danger."

The Mirror reported that Cain could have dyed her hair black after going missing, but this detail has not been confirmed.

Following the disappearance, the City of Fayetteville Department of Public Safety took to social media to inform the public about the teen girl's disappearance.

The authorities posted to Facebook, writing: "On January 7, 2024, Hydi Cain left her residence in the early hours of the morning. Hydi Cain can be described as a 16 year old, white female with blonde hair who is 5’1” and 130 lbs."

"She was last seen wearing pajamas pants, a sweatshirt and no shoes. Any information on the whereabouts of Hydi, please contact Detective Lindsey Fogler or Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta."

The Post reported that Cain's mother, Sidney Fyffe, has been worried and posting social media posts about her missing daughter.

She recently posted to Facebook: “Being a parent of an almost adult is the hardest thing I have ever done. They think they know what is out there. But they don’t."

“Y’all please help me bring my daughter home safe,” she wrote.

A woman named Felicia Partain commented: "Missing child. Hydi Cain is missing. She was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning. She left her home in Fayetteville in these clothes and barefoot."

"Police are involved, but there is still no word on her whereabouts, and her mom and little sister are worried sick. If you see Hydi or know of where she is, please contact the Fayetteville Police Department. We have known Hydi since birth, and we are praying she is found."

Another Facebook user who appeared to know Cain wrote: "I'm so sorry to read this! I got to know Hydi while working with the youth group at church. She's such a sweet girl!! I'm praying she is found safe."
