Mass. Lt. Gov. Saves Children From Burning Van

Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray is being called a hero today after he pulled two kids from a burning minivan. But it's a rescue that almost didn't happen after the childrens' guardian thought the Lt. Gov. was trying to kidnap them.

From NECN:

According to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, the former mayor noticed smoke coming from a car at the intersection of Main and Henshaw streets.

He ran over to take a look, and was told there were two kids inside. Murray managed to get the kids out safely moments before one of the tires burst into flames.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire.

But Murray's actions nearly got him a punch in the face. The children's grandmother originally thought he was trying to kidnap the children.

And that's not just hyperbole. Murray told the Associated Press the grandmother admitted she was actually "about to punch him." Murray is set to be inaugurated for his second term tomorrow.
