Obama Jokes About His Nobel Prize: At Least the Energy Sec. Deserved His

Um, did this really just happen?

During his speech on energy today, the president decided to praise his Energy Secretary Steven Chu. But in the process, he also took a shot...at himself.

While explaining that he has instructed Chu to collaborate with others on designing safety procedures, Obama said, "Chu's the right guy to do this, he's got a Nobel prize in physics -- he actually deserved his Nobel prize." Say what?

Joking or not, the president just joined the chorus of detractors saying he should have never been awarded the prize -- an argument that's been revitalized since his decision to lead military action in Libya.

Campaign season should be fun.
